Workshop Announcement

The Utrecht University Ethics Institute will be hosting a workshop titled ‘Between Necessity and Contingency:¬†Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Normativity of Human Rights’. This is the third workshop¬†organised as part of the NWO project ‘Human Dignity as the foundation of human rights?

Between necessity and contingency

The aim of this third workshop is to confront contemporary philosophical attempts of justifying the normative authority of the human rights with approaches from the social sciences and history. The particular focus of the event will be the possible tensions between necessary and contingent dimensions of the idea of human rights. Researchers from all disciplines are invited to attend the workshop, and to participate in the discussion.
